This page explains what personal information Martin Spring & Driveline collects through this website, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how long we keep it.

This website was built and is maintained for us by Web Centers USA.

2. Information you give us

When you send the contact form on this site, we collect what you type into it: your name, your email address and your message.

We collect this only because you chose to send it. You do not need an account to use this site, and we do not buy contact information from anyone else.

3. Information collected automatically

This site uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, and which sites they arrived from. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (their names begin with _ga) and receives your IP address, your approximate location (usually city level), your browser and device type, and the pages you view.

We also record when the contact form is successfully sent, as a count. That record contains no name, email address or message text — only the fact that a message was sent, so we can tell which pages and channels bring us enquiries.

Google's own handling of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can stop Google Analytics collecting your visit by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on. The site carries no advertising or tracking pixels.

The map on our contact section

Our contact section shows a picture of a map so you can find the shop, served from this website. The interactive Google map does not load on its own: until you click View interactive map, the map requests nothing from Google. When you do, the map loads directly from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, exactly as if you had opened Google Maps yourself. Google's own handling of that is described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Fonts and other page files

Apart from Google Analytics, everything this page needs — its typefaces, images, styles and scripts — is served from this website itself, so no other company sees your visit because of them.

Server logs

Our web host keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses and requested pages. These are ordinary hosting records used for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies this site sets

This site sets two small cookies of its own, both because the contact form needs them: martin-spring-driveline-session, which remembers you from one page to the next so the form can show its thank-you message, or your errors, after you send it; and XSRF-TOKEN, which proves a form submission really came from this site. Each holds a random code rather than anything about you, is sent only to this website, and expires 120 minutes after your last page view.

If the form rejects what you sent, what you typed is kept on our server with that session for the same short time so the form can be filled back in, then discarded. If you block these cookies, the site still works, but the contact form will not send.

4. What we do with it

We use what you send to answer your enquiry, quote and carry out the spring, driveshaft or driveline work you ask about, and keep a record of our correspondence. We use the analytics data to improve the website.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to send you marketing you did not ask for.

5. Who else sees it

A contact form submission reaches three places:

1. Our own mailbox — the message is emailed to us at info@martinspring.com.
2. Web Centers USA — a blind copy of every submission is sent to submissions@webcentersusa.com. Web Centers USA builds and maintains this website, and keeps this copy as an independent record so that a message which fails to reach our mailbox can still be recovered and answered. They use it for nothing else and share it with nobody.
3. This website's server — each submission is also written to a log file on the server, described in section 6.

Beyond that, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety.

6. How long we keep it

• Submission log on the server — 365 days. Entries older than a year are deleted automatically.
• Emails in our mailbox, and the Web Centers USA copy — kept while they are useful for the business relationship, then deleted.
• Google Analytics — 14 months, the retention period set in our Analytics property. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.

Job records, invoices and the paperwork for work we carry out for you are business records kept separately from this website, under our normal retention practice.

7. Your choices

You can ask us to send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. Email info@martinspring.com and we will respond.

Deleting the log entry and the emailed copies removes our record of your enquiry, so we may not be able to continue a conversation already in progress. We will say so if that applies.

8. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, email info@martinspring.com and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how we collect or use personal information, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
